816 Day: Revolución Latte

In collaboration with The Latinx Education Collaborative and Rev'Ed come try the Revved up to VOTE latte.  A creamy and delicious cherry and hazelnut latte with a portion of sales going to the Latinx Education Collaborative.

Here’s why we are deeply committed to voter engagement: only 50% of eligible Latino voters in Missouri are registered to vote, and even fewer turn out to vote. With candidates openly spreading hate and threatening our communities in the media, it’s crucial for those who can vote to do so to keep our communities safe.

Drink available at all locations.

NEO-TENOCHTITLAN Art Show

A reimagining of our ancient Mesoamerican gods and Mexican cultural icons, through the lens of early 20005 "toonami" programming. Manga and anime have had a major impression and influence in many marginalized communities of color. often, these works of fiction center on a character who has been forced into the margins of society through prejudice, and must rise to break the glass ceiling of their culture in an attempt to obtain a goal that is out of reach. naruto, one piece, and the like, tend to resonate amongst adolescents who feel slighted by society. In a way, these stories provide more than entertainment. They give our communities hope.

Vincent Medellin

Kansas City, MO - age 38

Medellin is fascinated by the manufacturing of identity, both on a macro and micro-cultural level, with an emphasis on the homogenization of underrepresented groups through the media. Vincent seeks to understand the racial logic governing entertainment corporations, from movie studios to publishing companies, in an attempt to help discuss and dismantle cultural erasure.
